Archiving Policy

1. Introduction

"Al-Bahth" (The Research) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of scholarly research. This policy outlines the procedures for archiving and disseminating scholarly content published in our platform.

2. Content to be Archived

The following content types submitted to "Al-Bahth" will be archived:

  • Peer-reviewed articles
  • Book reviews
  • Conference proceedings (subject to author consent)
  • Dissertations and theses (with embargo period if required by author or institution)
  • Datasets associated with published research (upon author agreement)

3. Archiving Process

  • Upon acceptance for publication, all final versions of manuscripts will be deposited in a recognized long-term digital archive. This archive will be chosen based on its commitment to open access, sustainability, and adherence to archival best practices. Examples include:
    • PubMed Central (PMC)
    • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
    • Zenodo
  • "Al-Bahth" will maintain its own digital archive of all published content on its platform.
  • Metadata for all archived content will be comprehensive and include information such as author names, affiliations, keywords, abstracts, and publication dates.

4. Access and Embargo Periods

  • "Al-Bahth" strives to make published research openly accessible whenever possible.
  • Authors may request an embargo period for their work, during which time access will be restricted. The maximum embargo period will be clearly stated and will not exceed a reasonable timeframe (e.g., 12 months).
  • After the embargo period expires, "Al-Bahth" will work with the chosen digital archive to ensure open access to the published work.

5. Author Rights

  • Authors retain copyright of their work published in "Al-Bahth."
  • By submitting their work, authors grant "Al-Bahth" a non-exclusive license to publish and disseminate their research.
  • Authors are encouraged to share their work through open access repositories and platforms.

6. Long-Term Preservation

  • "Al-Bahth" is committed to the long-term preservation of its digital archive.
  • Regular backups will be conducted to ensure data integrity and redundancy.
  • "Al-Bahth" will stay updated on technological advancements in digital archiving to ensure continued access to its content.

7. Review and Updates

  • This archiving policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as needed to reflect best practices and technological advancements.
