Licensing Policy

1. Introduction

Al-Bahth is committed to promoting the dissemination and accessibility of scholarly research while protecting the intellectual property rights of authors. This Scholarly Licensing Policy outlines the terms under which authors can publish their work in Al-Bahth and the rights and responsibilities of both authors and the journal.

2. License Options

Al-Bahth offers two licensing options for authors:

  • Open Access: Authors who choose the Open Access option retain copyright of their work and grant Al-Bahth a non-exclusive license to publish, disseminate, and distribute the article. This license allows for the widest possible dissemination of the research, and authors are encouraged to share their work on platforms like academia.edu or ResearchGate. Al-Bahth typically uses the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license for Open Access articles. Under CC BY, others are free to share and adapt the work, as long as they give appropriate credit to the author(s) and the source.
  • Subscription Access: Authors who choose the Subscription Access option transfer copyright of their work to Al-Bahth. This option allows Al-Bahth to control the access and distribution of the article, typically behind a paywall. Subscription fees are used to cover the costs of publishing the journal.

3. Author Rights and Responsibilities

  • Authors retain moral rights to their work, such as the right to be identified as the author and the right to object to derogatory treatment of the work.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material from other sources.
  • Authors are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Authors are encouraged to promote their published articles through social media and other channels.

4. Al-Bahth Rights and Responsibilities

  • Al-Bahth has the right to edit and format articles for publication.
  • Al-Bahth will ensure the proper attribution of authorship and will take steps to protect the copyright of authors.
  • Al-Bahth will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of published articles.
  • Al-Bahth will provide authors with access to proofs of their articles before publication.

5. Archiving and Preservation

Al-Bahth will archive all published articles in a secure and reliable repository to ensure long-term access and preservation.

6. Policy Updates

Al-Bahth reserves the right to update this Scholarly Licensing Policy from time to time. Authors will be notified of any changes to the policy.
